LAMINATED
SHATTERED GLASS AWNING

This awning was designed and created as a new focal point for a refurbished
office tower.
One layer of 6 ml tempered glass is laminated to a layer of 4ml shattered tempered
glass. All specifications were met by using the 6ml tempered glass as a substrate
to the shattered glass. This project proves the strength and durability of this
technique as temperatures in Calgary range from – 40° to + 40° Clecius.
During the day the glass is lit by sunlight and looks like millions of sparkling
diamonds. At night, incandescent lighting grabs the attention of passers-by.
