The challenges
of this project arose when the “cracked ice” product to be used from
a factory in Ontario would not meet the technical requirements needed for
this sculpture. As a result of this problem, the artist Rick Silas, developed
his own technology in order to complete the piece. Rick’s idea
of using a temporary membrane enabled him to execute the piece with perfect precision
while using 1/3 less glass.
